Class 1B Bodyguard:
Security Licence Course
This qualification reflects the role of a close protection operative who is responsible for providing security services to protect the safety and security of principals who may be celebrities, political figures, very important persons (VIPs) or other persons requiring close protection services.
This qualification provides an occupational licence outcome of a close protection operative.
This qualification is suitable for people within or entering the security industry who wish to specialise in the provision of close protection services. It provides a pathway to further learning and work in various security roles and settings, including security risk management.
Close protection operatives work in a team environment under limited supervision and use discretion and judgement in known and unpredictable work contexts. They take responsibility for their own outputs in work and learning, and limited responsibility for the output of others in the work team.
Course Specifications
Belmont
For a 1B Bodyguard subclass you must complete units from CPP31418 Certificate III in Close Protection and HLTAID014 Provide advanced first aid.
- Must hold: CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations OR a current class 1 NSW Security Licence
- SLED Pre-Enrolment Assessment (Certificate III level)
- You must have read the PTA Student Information Handbook
- You must have pre-read the Learner Guide prior to attending class
- A Unique Student Identifier (USI) Number must be supplied to PTA prior to us being able to issue a Nationally Recognised Qualification – refer Student Information Handbook
First Aid Requirements
- Must hold: HLTAID014 – Provide Advanced First Aid
- Or complete with PTA prior to attending the 1B SLC (Security Licenced Course)
Class 1B Bodyguard – work as a bodyguard or in a similar capacity
This Security Licence reflects the role of a close protection operative who is responsible for providing security services to protect the safety and security of principals who may be celebrities, political figures, very important persons (VIPs) or other persons requiring close protection services.
Pathways Information
These units of competency may provide credit towards CPP31418 Certificate III in Close Protection Operations.
Security Officers wishing to complete a Security Licence Course (SLC) for a Specialist Subclass licence: – Classed 1B – Bodyguard
